Job Description
As a Contract Specialist at BlackVe you will play a vital role in supporting contracting and procurement activities. You will be responsible for managing the contracting process, from solicitation and negotiation to contract execution and administration. Your ability to foster strong relationships with U.S. government customers, our subcontract suppliers, and teaming partners will contribute to the successful production of BlackVe satellites and mission capability. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, and thrives in a dynamic, small-team environment.

Some remote work is required. Full-time remote work is considered with limited travel to Albuquerque, NM and Chantilly, VA.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and submit responses to U.S. government RFPs, coordinating with the technical team to ensure submission compliance with requirements and DoD/IC acquisition policy and law.
- Develop subcontract solicitation packages, including requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for quotes (RFQs), and invitations to bid (ITBs), ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate subcontractor proposals and bids, analyzing cost, technical capabilities, compliance, and other factors to support effective decision-making.
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions, pricing, and other contractual terms to achieve favorable outcomes while mitigating risks and ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
- Manage contracts throughout the lifecycle, including contract modifications, performance monitoring, performance enforcement, and compliance oversight.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government customers, subcontractors, and suppliers, serving as the primary point of contact for contractual matters and fostering collaboration and mutual trust, representing the company well externally.
- Identify and mitigate contractual risks, ensuring that contract agreements are structured to protect the organization's interests and minimize potential liabilities.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including government procurement regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS).
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive contract records, including correspondence, modifications, and other relevant documentation, in accordance with established protocols.
- Demonstrate and foster an environment that always follows-through on commitments to customers, takes risk in the aggressive pursuit of solutions to National Security Space challenges, builds solutions on rigorous engineering principles and prototyping, and takes ownership of personal commitments, responsibilities, and mistakes, embracing a positive culture, and making community a priority.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Contract Management, or Supply Chain Management (Master’s degree preferred).
- At least 5 years of experience in contracting, subcontracting, procurement, or contract management roles, preferably in a satellite production environment and a Government contracting environment.
- Strong understanding of contract law and negotiation principles, and government procurement regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the strong ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to independently prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have the ability to qualify for and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
